UPSC conducts examination for appointing officers to the services of the Union. The recruitment for the post of officers is done through competitive exams and interview process.UPSC conducts different exams for various positions. Eligibility Criteria and Application Procedure is same for all the exams. A Complete list of examination is given below.

UPSC Civil Service Preliminary Examination :Civil Service Preliminary Examination is a gateway to get into the high position in government sectors. Qualifying in the preliminary exam is a challenging task for the applicants.
UPSC 2011 Eligibility Criteria
- Candidate must be a citizen of India
- Candidate should have a degree from a recognized university/institute or an equivalent educational qualification.
- Age Limit: Candidate should be between 21 to 30 years of age as on 31st August 2011. There is relaxation of age limit for various reserved categories.
- Candidates must be physically fit according to physical standards for admission to Civil Services Examination 2011 guidelines.
UPSC 2011 Application Procedure
Candidates can apply online through the UPSC official website. Detailed instructions for filling up online applications are available on the website itself.
Candidates may also apply offline in the Common Application form devised by the commission for its examinations, which can be processed on computerized machines.
Civil Services application form along with an Information Brochure containing all general instructions for filling up the form, an acknowledgement card and an envelope for sending the Civil Services application will be obtainable from the designated Head Post Offices / Post Offices throughout the country against cash payment of Rupee 30/- (Rupees thirty only).
Civil Services Application Form should be purchased from the designated Head Post Offices only and not from any other agency. This Civil Services form can be used only once and for only one Civil Services Preliminary Examination.
Candidates who wish to apply offline must use the form supplied with the Information Brochure only and they should not use photocopy / reproduction / unauthorized printed copy of the Application Form.
Candidate should also fill up in the relevant places of the Acknowledgement Card, their Civil Services Application Form Number and the name of the Civil Services Examination.
The applicants are required to affix the postage stamp of Rupee 6/- on the Acknowledgement Card and send the same along with Civil Services Application Form to UPSC.
If an applicant fails to affix the postage stamp of requisite amount, his Acknowledgment Card will be not be dispatched and Union Public Service Commission will not be responsible for non-receipt of acknowledgement cards by the applicant.
The duly filled in Civil Services application form and the acknowledgement card should be sent in the special envelope supplied with the Information Brochure. The Candidates should write the name of examination viz. “Civil Services Preliminary Examination 2011″ on the envelope before dispatching it to the following address.

Application Fee
Candidates applying Online are required to pay a fee of Rupee 50/- (Rupees Fifty only) either by remitting the money in any Branch of SBI by Cash, or by using net banking facility of SBI or by using Visa / Master Credit / Debit Card.
(b) Candidates applying Offline (through Common Application Form) are required to pay a fee of Rupee 100/- (Rupees One Hundred only) through a single Central Recruitment Stamp.
(c) Fee once paid shall not be refunded under any circumstances nor can the fee be held in reserve for any other examination or selection.
UPSC 2011 Examination Pattern
The preliminary examination consists of two papers of objective type (Paper I is General Awareness and Paper II is Optional Paper).
The question paper carries a maximum of 400 marks (200 marks each).
The candidates who clear the preliminary examination are qualified for the Civil Service Main examination.
The question papers will be set both in Hindi and in English.
Each paper will be of two hours duration.
The questions of optional subjects will be of degree level.

UPSC 2011 IFS Examination Pattern
Competitive examination for recruitment to the Indian Forest Service will be held by the Union Public Service Commission commencing on the 9th July, 2011.

UPSC 2011 CES Examination Pattern
For recruitment of engineers, UPSC conducts Combined Engineering Services Examination.
Examination Pattern
The Competitive Combined Engineering Service Exam consists of Part I and II.
The Part I written examination consists of two sections Section I consisting only of objective types of questions and Section II of conventional papers. Both Sections will cover the entire syllabus of the relevant engineering disciplines viz. Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering and Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering.
Part II - Personality test carrying a maximum of 200 marks of such of the candidates who qualify on the basis of the written examination.
