University of Delhi (UOD), started in 1922 with three colleges and 750 students, is now the premier institution of India. Present strength of the University is 16 faculties, 86 departments, 77 colleges, a few other recognized institutes, around 150,000 regular students and more than 250,000 students in the distance learning stream. School of Open Learning (SOL) offers various under graduate and post graduate programs in arts and commerce discipline. The degrees acquired from School of Open Learning are considered equivalent to degrees acquired from regular colleges.
