Punjab Medical Entrance Test (PMET) is an Entrance examination conducted for admitting students in to various bachelor medical courses which are MBBS,BDS, BAMS and BHMS in all the medical, dental, Ayurvedic/ Homoeopathic Institutes all over Punjab.
PMET is conducted once in a year by Baba Farid University of Health Sciences, Faridkot on behalf of Guru Nanak Dev University (GNDU), Amritsar.
In Punjab there are total 20 medical and Dental colleges in which admission is based on the PMET performance of an individual.
Reservation of Seats:
For Punjab candidates: 85%
For Outside Punjab candidates : 15%
PMET 2012 Eligibility criteria
Applicant should be an Indian Citizen.
Applicant should be a resident of Punjab with Punjab domicile.
A candidate should have passed 10+2 or equivalent examination with Physics, Chemistry and Biology with atleast 50%marks (40% for SC/BC) in all these subjects. Also a candidate should have passed in English as well.
Candidates who are appearing for class 12th exams in 2011 are also eligible to apply.
Candidate should have attained the minimum 17 years of age before 31st December, 2010. The candidate’s state of mind should be completely fit and that he or she will suffer no complication, particularly health wise at the time of admission.
The candidates that are in the first year of the Bachelor level degree of graduation can also apply for this Entrance Test provided that they are under the specific age limit concerned with this test. Even candidates that have passed their Bachelor Level degree from any recognized Indian University can apply for this exam, provided he or she is a resident of the state and that they also fall under the specific age limit. However these respective candidates have to attain a Study all the compulsory Subjects such as Chemistry, Physics, Zoology or Botany.
PMET 2012 Application Procedure
Applications forms for Punjab MET will be available from May.
Candidates can obtain the application forms for PMET from Baba Farid University of Health Sciences, Faridkot. The candidates can buy the form from the selected branches of Canara Bank by the payment of the application fee. The PMET application fee is Rs.1000/-. Those who purchase the application form from the bank do not get the exam prospectus. The candidates who send a request and a demand draft of Rs.1050/- to the Registrar of Baba Farid University can receive the application form and prospectus by post.
Candidates can also obtain the application form by post from Baba Farid University of Health Sciences, Faridkot by sending a Demand Draft along with the request letter for the application form.
The candidates that want to send the application form through post have to provide a signature of the candidate in the back side of the Demand Draft and should also clearly mention the registration number at the top of the requisite letter.
PMET 2012 Important Dates
Start of sale of application form: First Week of May, 2012
Last date of receiving the application form: Last Week of May, 2012
Date of PMET exam: Second Week of June, 2012
PMET 2012 Examination Pattern
The score in the written test is the most important requirement for getting admission for the candidates. The written includes 200 multiple choice Questions. The time allotted for the exam will be one and a half hours (150 minutes). The test consists of questions from the subjects of Physics, Chemistry and Biology. The physics and chemistry subject carry 50 questions and biology subject carries 100 questions. Each correct answer will get 4 marks. For each wrong answer 1 mark will be deducted.
