Nagaland Board of School Education (NBSE)
Nagaland Board of School Education was established in 1973. The functions of the board are to prescribe courses of instruction, conduct examination, publish the external examination results, organize workshops, seminars and prepare syllabus for secondary and higher secondary education.
NBSE 2011Secondary School Examination Scheme of Studies
Compulsory subjects:
1. First Language - English
2. Second Language (any one of the following)
i. Hindi, ii. Bengali, iii. Ao, iv. Lotha, v. Sumi, vi. Tenyidie, vii. Alternative English
3. Mathematics
4. Science
5. Social Sciences
6. Any of the following can be opted as Sixth Subject
Agriculture, Book Keeping & Accountancy, Environmental Education, Home Science, Introductory Information Technology, Music

NBSE 2011 Eligibility for HSLC Examination
Minimum percentage of attendance to sit for the final examination is 80%.
A compulsory subject in which a student has not acquired the qualifying grade can be interchanged with the sixth subject where he/she had acquired the qualifying grade for eligibility to the next higher class.
Students who do not opt for the sixth subject shall have to secure the minimum qualifying grades in all the 5 (five) subjects i.e. i. First Language (English), ii. Second Language, iii. Mathematics, iv. Science, and v. Social Sciences.
NBSE 2011 Eligibility for HSSLC Examination
Candidate has been studying in an institution registered with NBSE or member board of Council of Boards of School Education in India (COBSE),
Candidate who has passed qualifying or equivalent qualifying examination making him eligible for admission to that respective class
Candidate has to complete the required percentage of attendance (80%) for each class to make him eligible for the examinations.
NBSE 2011 HSSLC Scheme of Studies
There are 3 streams i.e. Arts, Commerce and Science at the higher secondary level. There will be 6 external subjects including 1additional subject and 3internally assessed subjects. The additional subject is optional.
