B.Tech (Bachelor of Technology) is an UG academic degree program. Duration of the B.Tech courses is 4 years. This Degree is awarded by government and private institutions in various fields like Information Technology, Electronics (Communication & Instrumentation) Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mining Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Civil engineering, Biotechnology, Chemical Engineering, Production Engineering and Textile Engineering, Pulp and Paper Engineering etc.

After the successful completion of B.Tech one can pursue for higher studies in the fields like Masters Degree in any of the disciplines in which B.Tech has been done.

About University of Kerala

The University of Kerala is one of the first 16 Universities in India.  It was founded as the University of Travancore in 1937. NAAC has accredited the University with B++ grade. The University presently has sixteen faculties and forty one departments of teaching and research in addition to study centers and other departments. The Departments primarily focus on post-graduate (masters) programs, M.Phil programs (1-year research degree) and doctoral research. The University awarded more than 100 PhDs in 2007.

The University of Kerala is one of the first 16 Universities in India.  It was founded as the University of Travancore in 1937. NAAC has accredited the University with B++ grade. The University achieved the Indira Gandhi National Award for the best NSS activities in 2005.

The University started with two institutions of modern learning in Kerala, the University College, Thiruvananthapuram and the Trivandrum Observatory. The University College was affiliated to the Madras University. When the University of Travancore was founded, the Departments of the college became the University Departments. Later in 1957, when the transformation to University of Kerala happened, the departments became the department of Kerala University. The University College is now an affiliated college of the University. The Trivandrum Observatory is now the oldest institution under the Kerala University.

The University has more than 150 affiliated colleges. Out of this, 60 are Arts and Science colleges. Others include 2 Law colleges, 17 Engineering Colleges, 9 MBA/MCA Colleges, 37 Teacher Training Colleges, 4 Medical Colleges, 4 Ayurveda colleges, 2 Homeopathy Colleges, one Siddha Medical College, 3 Dental colleges, 10 Nursing Colleges, 4 Pharmacy Colleges, 2 Fine Arts Colleges, and a Music College. A National College of Physical Education is also affiliated to the University. The total number of students in these colleges is more than 84,000.
