Karnataka DTE Diploma Examination Time Table
Some of the technical skilled educational institutions are started before Independence, by name "Occupational Institutes". After that, these are renamed as "Polytechnics"(multiple technical skills/many technical skills). Polytechnics were working under "Public Instruction Department" ,since before independance to till 1959. Number of Polytechnics and Technical degree colleges are increased, the new department called "Technical Education Department" came into existence in 1959.
The functions of DTE are to administer, supervise, control and plan programs for the development of Technical Educational Institutions in the state both at Degree and Diploma levels. To formulate Engineering studies and courses, recognition of new courses to examine and recommend for starting of New Institutions in the State both at the Degree levels and Diploma level. To conduct inspections and periodical reviews of existing Technical Educational Institutions to maintain the standard of Education. To conduct the diploma public examinations and to award the Diploma certificates to successful candidates.
The Department of Technical Education (DTE) is the highest policy making body in the field of Technical Education in Karnataka. Its primary function is planning of developing Technical Education in state. The Board of Technical Examination is responsible for conduct of Diploma/Post diploma /Tailoring examination and award Diploma/Post Diploma/certificate to the eligible candidates. The Board conducts examinations in large number of centers across the State.
The Directorate of Technical Education is the monitoring and controlling the admissions to Diploma and Degree courses in Karnataka. Regarding to the admissions to the degree program a separate Cell has been set up by the Govt. of Karnataka to take up this gigantic task All the latest information about admissions to Engineering degree programs are available in the website of the Common Entrance Test Cell.
Admissions to Diploma Program
Admission to Diploma Program is done by the Directorate. The admission process usually starts with the issue of the notification for admission by the Directorate in leading news papers of the State.It may be some time in the last week of April or First week of May or around that period. The announcement is also made on the website of the Directorate. The polytechnic websites will also carry the details of admission notification in their respective sites.
Applications for the admission will be available in all the offices of Government and aided Polytechnics of the State. The applications may be purchased in any polytechnic and sent to any other center polytechnic where the candidate seeking admission.
Admission to diploma courses is based on the merit in each category of reservation. Out of the total seats 50% of the seats are reserved for various groups in the society. Remaining 50% of the seats are allotted based on the marks secured in the SSLC in Science and Maths for technical Courses. For admission to non technical courses total marks secured by the candidate in SSLC is taken into consideration.
