Placenta anterior upper segment Questions & Answers

Question : When i went for my 20 week ultrasound and the tech was measuring everything, then she typed in Anterior Placenta on the screen...anyways just wondering????? What does it mean? Has anyone ever had it?

Answer : Anterior is the direction that your uterus is pointing. It just means that the placenta is following the path of your uterus, like it is supposed to. This is normal. Your nurse was just marking the position.

Question : The ultrasound tech said I have interior placenta and I was wondering what that meant.. I know I should have asked her, but I wasnt thinking about it at the time.

Answer : Anterior means it's attached on the front side in the uterus, posterior means it's attached on the back of the uterus' interior. You just misunderstood her, that's okay. 'in' and 'an' sound similiar if you are new to this. It might be a little more difficult to fell baby's kicks and moves with an anterior placenta, but this placement is not that unusual. Best wishes!

Question : i have one and my dr said that it is not blocking my cervix so i wont have any problems hopefully. but i was wondering what is the difference of an anterior placenta and normal one?? what experiences did u have during delivery??

Answer : i had one and there were no problems the difference is just that it is alot lower than usual the placenta could be near your navel, it could mean some bleeding if it is too close to your cervix, but if the doc thinks things are fine then you have no reason to worry, congrats and good luck :)
