COMEDK - Consortium of Medical, Engineering and Dental Colleges of Karnataka
The Karnataka Private Medical & Dental Colleges Association, in their endeavour to offer an effective, fair and objective testing procedure to determine merit of students seeking admission to the member institutions, have formed “Consortium of Medical, Engineering and Dental Colleges of Karnataka” (COMEDK).
COMEDK has been assigned the task of organising a common entrance test for the academic year 2010-2011.
COMEDK entrance test & publication of test score and rank list will be followed by centralized counseling (Single window system).
COMEDK 2011 Eligibility Criteria
MBBS/BDS : General Merit Candidates should have passed the qualifying examination which is 2nd PUC or 10+2 higher secondary or equivalent examination, recognized by State / Central Government. The last two years of study shall comprise of Physics, Chemistry and Biology (PCB) with English as a compulsory subject. As per the Medical Council of India (MCI) and Dental Council of India (DCI) norms the candidates must have passed these subjects individually and must have obtained a minimum of 50% of marks taken together in PCB, Further must secure not less than 50% marks in PCB in the Common Entrance Test (COMEDK UGET-2010).
SC, ST and OBC Candidates of Karnataka should have passed the qualifying examination which is 2nd PUC or 10+2 higher secondary or equivalent examination, recognized by State / Central Government. The last two years of study shall comprise of Physics, Chemistry and Biology (PCB) with English as a compulsory subject and must have passed these subjects individually and must have obtained a minimum of 40% of marks taken together in PCB. In addition, in the Common Entrance Test, must have secured not less than 40% marks in PCB.
He/she shall complete the age of 17 years on or before 31st December (31/12/2010) of the year of admission to the MBBS/BDS course.
B.E : General Merit Candidates,should have passed the qualifying examination which is 2nd PUC or 10+2 higher secondary or equivalent qualifying Examination recognized by State / Central Government with a minimum aggregate of 45% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics (PCM) and should have passed these subjects individually. Physics and Mathematics are compulsory subjects along with Chemistry or Biotechnology or Computer Science or Biology or Electronics as one of the optional subjects. English as one of the language of study is compulsory. There is no minimum marks fixed for entrance test. Hence all candidates who have taken the entrance test will find a place in the merit list as per their performance.
SC, ST and OBC Candidates of Karnataka the aggregate marks in PCM should not be less than 40% in the qualifying examination as mentioned above. All other details remain the same.
B. Arch : A candidate who has passed the qualifying examination (2nd PUC or 10+2 higher secondary or equivalent examination) with Mathematics as one of the subjects along with other subjects or a 10+3 Diploma recognized by Central / State Government and having obtained at least 50% marks in aggregate (45% marks in case of SC/ST and OBC Candidates of Karnataka). Further the candidate should have appeared for National Aptitude Test in Architecture (NATA) conducted by Council of Architecture with a minimum score of 80 out of 200 for both general merit and category candidates.
COMEDK will not be conducting any Common Entrance Test for candidates seeking admission to B.Arch (Architecture Course) as per existing rules.
COMEDK 2011 Exam Pattern
COMDEK entrance test is for those students who want to seek admission in various institutes in Karnataka, who offer programmes like BE, MBBS & BDS. COMEDK entrance paper pattern comprises of four papers, they are given as: Paper I Mathematics, Paper II Biology, Paper III Physics and Paper IV Chemistry. In COMEDK Exam Combined paper for Physics & Chemistry are Compulsory for all candidates. Candidates who aspire apply for MBBS Course, for them Biology is Compulsory. COMEDK 2011 Syllabus
Generally, the questions are asked from Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology of 10+2 level of examination. Topics that are generally asked are:
Topics in physics
Heat and thermodynamics, electrostatics, oscillations, thermal and chemical effects of currents, electromagnetic induction and alternating currents, physical world & measurement, introduction, description of motion in one dimension, description of motion in two and three dimensions, etc.
Topics in Chemistry
Chemistry of representative elements, nuclear chemistry, electrochemistry, chemical kinetics, chemistry in action, chemistry of biological processes, biomolecules, polymers, chemistry of carbon compounds, coordination chemistry and organo metallics, transition metals including lanthanides etc.
Topics in Mathematics
Vectors and three dimensional geometry, matrices and determinants, circles, coordinate geometry, exponential and logarithmic series, Probability, correlation and regression, differential equations, definite integral, integral calculus, differential calculus etc.
Topics in Biology
Diversity in Living World, Structural Organisation in Plants and Animals, Biology and Human Welfare, Ecology and Environment, Reproduction in Organism, Genetics & Evolution, etc.
COMEDK 2011 Test Admission Ticket
Candidates appearing for COMEDK UGET-2010 will be issued a Test Admission Ticket (TAT) for identification. Candidates are required to bring the Test Admission Ticket and the original (Candidate Copy) Date of Birth Certificate / Identity Proof duly attested by the Head of the Institution last studied or Gazetted officer not below the rank of Tahsildar of the area in which he/she is a resident, which is similar to the copy submitted (COMEDK Copy) along with the application form. This is mandatory.
The Test Admission Ticket gives the details of test centre assigned to the candidate. The candidates are assigned a test centre decided by the COMEDK authority during the application processing, itself and no requests for change in Test centre would be considered.
The Test Admission Tickets would be dispatched to the candidates by speed post at the address mentioned in their application form as and when the applications are processed.
