New Pattern for Medical Entrance Exam (AIPMT)
Dec 23, 2010
The Supreme Court had approved a new pattern for the All India Pre-Medical Test (AIPMT). It is applicable to all the pre-Medical and Pre-Dental Entrance Examinations.
The entrance test involves two stages - a screening test and the main examination, both with objective type questions. The new pattern will be used by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) to fill 15 percent seats in MBBS/BDS courses in medical/dental colleges across the country, against the All India quota from the 2009 session.
The eligibility criteria will remain unchanged. Candidates from the unreserved category securing 50 percent marks and students from SC/ST/OBC categories getting 40 percent marks in the Prelims or the candidates 10 times the number of seats available for councelling/admission will be declared qualified for the final stage exam.
