Madras University Nov 2010 UG Results
The University of Madras is one of the three oldest universities in India. The university is organized on the model of the University of London, and was incorporated on 5 September 1857 by an Act of the Legislative Council of India. The University of Madras is regulated by the University Grants Commission of the government of India.
The university is situated in the southern city of Chennai. It has six campuses in the city - Chepauk, Thondaimaan vazhagam, Marina, Guindy, Taramani, Maduravayal and Chetpet. The University of Madras has 50 departments offering a range of subjects. NAAC has conferred Five Star Status to the university and it has been given the status of "University with Potential for Excellence" by the University Grants Commission.
