Delhi University (DU) School of Open Learning Annual Examination -2010
The School of Open Learning is a part of the Campus of Open Learning.The School offers learning through the distance education mode which is a feasible option for students who need a flexible medium of instruction to attain higher education and vocational skills. The School has a South Study Centre at South Moti Bagh, New Delhi.
The Date sheets and the Admission Tickets will be sent by Post and would reach 7 days prior to the commencement of the respective examinations. In case, the Admission Tickets and the Date sheet, are not received by any candidate, he/she may download the same. However, the Duplicate Admission Ticket will be issued two days before the commencement of the examination, by the office of the School of Open Learning on presenting his/her Identity Card/Fee Receipt.
The same process will also be followed at South Study Centre, Moti Bagh, New Delhi for the students enrolled at South Study Centre.
Note: In case, any failed or promoted student has not submitted his/her Examination Form till date, can submit the same 15 days before the commencement of the respective examination on any working day.

DU SOL : An overview
The School of Open Learning is a part of the Campus of Open Learning. It was previously known as The School of Correspondence Courses and Continuing Education, formed under the University of Delhi in the year 1962. It is considered as a one of the premier Institution in the field of Distance Education in India. At present more than two lakhs students are enrolled under this School. The School offers Undergraduate/Postgraduate Degree courses in the various disciplines of Arts/Humanities and Commerce. The course material is distributed by mail to all the enrolled students. This is also supplemented through Personal Contact Program organized for the benefit of students at various study centers run by the School. An experienced and highly qualified faculty is always available at the main campus for academic interaction with students.

School of Open Learning offers various under graduate and post graduate programs in arts and commerce discipline; both, Hons. and General / Pass courses are offered. The degrees acquired from SOL are considered equivalent to degrees acquired from regular colleges; one may apply for job or may go for further studies. The curriculum taught is same as that of regular colleges.

Medium of Instruction
English and Hindi are the media of instruction for History, Political Science, Economics, Sanskrit, Education, Nutrition and Health Education and Commerce. The medium of instruction for Mathematics is English. For teaching English, Hindi, Urdu, Tamil and Punjabi, the medium will be the language concerned.
The applicant should clearly mention the choice of medium of instruction at the appropriate place in his/her Application Form for Admission.
Method of Instruction
The syllabus for each paper is divided into suitable number of lessons. Lessons are prepared by experienced teachers and cover the entire course prescribed by the University of Delhi. They are sent to the students at regular intervals (provided fee is paid on due dates as mentioned in the Prospectus). After a student has studied the lessons and the recommended readings, he/she is expected to prepare answers to the attached Response Sheets and send them to the School for correction and suggestions. Corrected Response Sheets are returned to the students with the teacher's comments and suggestions. Through this process a student receives instruction in organizing his ideas clearly and correctly. Students find correspondence study economical and convenient because they can learn while they earn. Instruction through lessons is supplemented by Personal Contact Programs arranged during the course of the year at different centers, and through talks broadcast by the All-India Radio, Delhi.
Personal Contact Program
Personal Contact Program includes regular classroom lectures and discussions at various places for a specified period ranging from 25 to 30 days in a year. (Admission seekers are required to fill up the Enclosed Post Card for attending the P.C.P. classes.)
